My Bio
I am a railroad enthusiast. I'm also a computer enthusiast, but my products there don't make pictures anywhere near as nice. My photography is generally amateur level. I hope to get good enough to be a "Pro-sumer" one day.

Oh, and I write way too much in image descriptions. So if you want to know more, and particularly if not, that's the place.

Just saw someone say "if you don't like AI you're hypocritical, posting on a site that has an AI generator". Dude, I've been on this site for over sixteen years now. It's had an AI generator for less than half a year, and I certainly did not ask for an AI generator to be added. There is nothing hypocritical, this is literally just how time works.

I'm not sure what to think about AI art. On the one hand, it is an interesting technological achievement, and it's great for people who are doing mixed media art, giving them much more options. On the other hand, there is the whole ethical aspect: I'm not sure if the copying that's done to generate the data will be ruled legal or not, but I do think it's ethically iffy. Not something I want to support. I've also seen quite a few posts on Twitter that were very dismissive of actual artists, celebrating them being "put in their place" or something. Now, that is not something every AI user thinks, probably not even most of them, but I don't like how it's enabling them. On the first foot (ran out of hands), there's also the issue that a lot of AI art is just bad. Even if everything lines up and everybody has the right amount of fingers, most of it has no originality. It's all just a kind of picture we already know, just more of it. Way, way more. And also an incredible amount of porn.

Since there seem to be a number of new people on DA, I felt like giving a short PSA: On here, you post your own stuff. Not someone else's that you found. Not even if you found it on Pinterest or Google Image Search. Not even if it's very neat. Not if it's a screenshot from a movie. Not if it's an image you found and you drew a face on it. Only stuff you literally made yourself. This used to be the standard, but these days nobody at DA management cares anymore. But personally, I still do. I have blocked people for this, and I will continue to do so, depending on my mood on any given day. Don't do this, folks. I know I'm way too late here; DA hasn't been the main place where artists hang out and have their main internet presence for a long, long time now. But still, you don't have to go out of your way to make it worse.

Thanks for the favorite!

You're welcome! Sorry for not adding any comments, I didn't really have anything useful to add, it was a very good overview essay on the topic.

I guess it's a year since the last time, so time's come again to thank you for all of the faves!!

You're welcome! I can't say how active I'll be or for how long, but I was feeling a bit bored this past week, so I decided to take a look here again.

Thank you very much for all of the recent faves!!

You're welcome! :)
