It must be good for the environment! Look how green it is! :D

Did I post something of Ascendos rail leasing before? Not sure. Anyway, that leasing company took over from Porterbrook, and decided to repaint their machines green with a yellow stripe. Not an amazing color, but I don't think a beautiful paint scheme exists for the class 66 at all. This one is currently used by Rurtalbahn Benelux and their daughter company Trainsport, and driving through Aachen central station.

I think I keep my word about my actual favorite paint scheme on these locomotives: DBS! :D

Hmm, I might have taken a picture of this one on Saturday in Sittard? It was taken from above though, don't know if you can see the number?

It must not be the same, I don't see the PB17 on it, but it's same color scheme and RURTAL bahn ;) What bothered me was that it sounded like the loc was on, and when I returned hours later, it was still on yet there was no one in or near the loc... Just burning diesel?

At least in Aachen, they do that a lot. And you can hear these machines from far, far away…

I heard it is necessary to keep some systems running, for example for brakes, lights, and in cold weather also simply to keep the engine from becoming too cold. More modern diesel locomotives sometimes have a second, very small engine that generates power only for those things.

maybe that is it yeah! But I only heard it from one engine though, it didn't sound like two

Maybe one was going to be used later, and the other not.
