Fleeing the city

Like most major cities, New York is served not only by subways, but also by a network of commuter rail lines that maybe share some characteristics of subways, but have longer distances, fewer stops and higher speeds. Or in New York's case, four different ones that have no common map, app or ticketing system, even though two of them (LIRR and Metro North) are run by the same agency as the subway, and the other two are owned either by New York and New Jersey jointly or only by New Jersey. Awesome work there. 

Anyway, I took a Metro North train from Grand Central Terminal to Harlem/125th street, literally the next station, just to see what that Disneyland station was like for actual travelers. It's okay, I guess, but there can be no doubt that this massively oversized commuter terminal does not hold up to the promises made by the grand concourse. 

Here, I really like the scene of the train in front of the washed out skyline.
