Here we go again

You know the old saying: "If you want to take pictures underground, don't use a damn phone". So I returned to "Rathaus" (city hall), the newest stop on Cologne's (Germany) subway system today with my real camera. And I have to say, there were some nice results in there.

Getting the motion blur was rather hard, because the trains are running extremely slowly at the moment, due to another recurring event: The new subway line endangering important cultural landmarks. First a church tower along the line tilted, then the historic city archive was literally sunk, and now it's shaking up Cologne's cathedral. So far, no damages have been observed, but in a building with parts more than a thousand years old, you do want to be careful. The current theory is that a tunnel built in 1968 has a connection to a side building of the cathedral that was built in 2000. Until anything more is known, the trains are limited to twenty kilometers per hour, to reduce the vibrations generated.
