Recently, there has been a surge of new tram systems all over the UK, but Blackpool is the one and only town that retained its original tram system throughout all the dark years. That is nice, but it also left them with a horribly outdated infrastructure and rolling stock. Some might say that its trams

It was time for a change, and over the past years, the network was almost completely rebuilt. As for rolling stock, after attempts at a home-grown solution literally went up in flames
, Blackpool decided on Bombardier and their new Flexity 2 platform; specifically, this tram here. It is currently being delivered, and with more doors, wider cars, accessibility and so on, it will offer a major jump in quality and a major drop in uniqueness. Not to worry, though, some of the old trams will still run on some sections as a tourist attraction.
