Description

Ever wondered what the locomotive end of a Mark <something> train set looks like, the part where the class 91 locomotive couples to? Apparently it's this. An interesting detail are the huge buffers, most likely needed for push-pull operation.

The Buffers on Mk IV ( coach B with the sealed end ) are only there for shunting. The Class 91's use the center rubbing plate between the buffers to push against. The buffers are actually retractable on the 91 to prevent buffer contact, this is done by removing a locking pin and rotating the buffer through 90 degrees to extend them when not coupled to a Mk IV rake.
