When I posted the ever-so-creatively titled Thalys from Paris, :iconericforfriends: remarked that the only thing more beautiful would be a Thalys going to Paris. Well, here we are! :D

This Thalys trainset is just coming from the Köln (Cologne) Deutzerfeld depot, where it got prepared for it's journey from Cologne central station to Paris Nord. Sadly, while the Thalys does pass the Hohenzollern Bridge, the second most important landmark of Cologne, it only does so without any passengers.

I've been asked for more pictures of the bridge recently. Something I've always been wanting to do was a picture that showed the bridge and also a train sort of going before it, through a curve. German Taurus was one attempt, this is another, and I might post a third one later, but I still think I didn't quite nail what I was looking for. Of course, I'm not certain whether the picture I want is even possible, geometrically, but I shall try some more.

Brill, love this picture and that train :D

Thank you! I was fearing that it was maybe a little too generic.

I'm not a big fan of Thalys in general, but once again, the way you manage to line up your shot is very nice.

Also, don't fear for 'generic shots' they are what make the really nice ones stand out ;)

I'm kind of wondering to your location though. Is this bend that sharp? Considering you're shooting kind of wide angle.

(My own camera is a 'superzoom' which was a bit more affordable contrary to a DSLR, it does have it's disadvantages though :()

The bend really is that sharp. The story is that this bridge leads directly towards a church, because the emperor found that configuration very good-looking (and it is). The problem is that to get to the central station, the track then has to make this very sharp curve, and trains won't go faster than 20 or 30 km/h through it.

That can be a good thing. More time to focus... Trying to capture a train roaring by at 140 km/h makes life hard sometimes :D.

It doesn't matter how many times you've seen the view of this giant bridge, it's always astounding ... and you have to look at it again and again and you still cannot contain the overwhelming impression...

Yes, I really love this bridge, I just fear others are getting tired of it.

Thank you for the :+fav:! :)
